The Art of Innovation

The only thing constant about information technology, is that it’s always changing.

When Ferrari asked me to participate in a discourse on Innovation, supporting the launch of the new California T, I jumped at the opportunity.

  1. I love cars – that goes without saying.
  2. Innovation is in my blood.

When you watch the video below you’ll get a sense of what I mean.

The word Innovation to me is about creating something tangible from the intangible. Innovators create value that people didn’t know existed.

We all have the ability to create something out of nothing.

Think about that for a second. You have that power.

Don’t get me wrong, a lot of great businesses start because entrepreneurs take an existing idea and make it better, but that too is innovative. Improvement, change, creativity, drive, passion, technology. It’s all at your fingertips.

I have a long standing relationship with Ferrari. As I mention in the clip, when I first immigrated to Canada, my father and I saw a Ferrari racing up the road. My dad basically shielded my eyes, “Never you mind,” he said, insinuating it was out of reach for us.

“That’s a Ferrari…”

Since that day, Ferrari has always been the promise of potential, the promise of a better life.

Ferrari is an innovative force in the automotive space. That level of craftsmanship, artistry, creativity, and execution, is something we as business leaders should all aspire to achieve. It’s an ongoing challenge in today’s world of rapidly changing technologies. In my business there is a complete overhaul every 3-5 years.

You can’t be caught standing still. Keep moving, keep hustling, keep looking around corners for the next opportunity, keep innovating.
